Be kind, be honest

UpdatesOn exists for one purpose: to help families share updates about someone they love. Use it for that. Don't use it to harass, deceive, harvest emails, run a business, distribute malware, or post content that's illegal where you or your readers live.

What you post is yours

You keep ownership of the words, photos, voice notes, videos, and files you post as a caretaker. By posting, you give us permission to host them and deliver them to your subscribers. That's it — we don't use them for training models, marketing, or anything else.

Public messages (“drop a card”) and visit RSVPs left by readers belong to the people who sent them. We host them with their permission. Any caretaker on the page can remove any message or RSVP at any time, and we may remove content that's reported or violates these terms.

Caretakers

Every caretaker invited to a page gets their own admin link and the same powers as the person who created it: post, edit, delete, manage subscribers, change settings, close the page. Invite people you trust at that level. Removing a caretaker invalidates their admin link.

No accounts means no account recovery

The admin link is the only way back to your page. We can't reset it for you. Save it somewhere you'll find it — bookmarks, a notes app, an email to yourself.

Health and safety

This is not a medical record. Don't use it as one. If you're sharing health information, share what you're comfortable with everyone on the link reading. If something on a page indicates someone is in immediate danger, call your local emergency number.

Visiting and public messages

If a page has a visiting schedule or messages turned on: don't harass visitors, don't spam the message wall, don't use either feature to contact people for any purpose other than the family the page is about. Caretakers can remove any RSVP or message; we can too.

We may take pages down

If a page violates these terms or applicable law, we may disable it without notice. We try to reach out first when we can. Egregious abuse (spam, harassment, illegal content) gets immediate removal. Institutional pages are additionally governed by the Business Associate Agreement on file with that institution.

No warranty, no liability beyond what's required

The service is provided as-is, free of charge. We do our best to keep it running and your data safe, but we can't guarantee uptime or that data won't be lost. To the maximum extent allowed by law, we're not liable for any damages arising from use of the service.

Changes

If we change these terms, we'll update the "last updated" date above. Material changes will also get a banner on the homepage for at least two weeks.
