The group text is fine for "running late, leave the door open." It's a hard place to manage sensitive health news for days or weeks.

Big update sites like CaringBridge

Sites like CaringBridge have helped a lot of families, and for some they're exactly right, especially for long journeys where you want a guestbook and a large community.

What's good: purpose-built for health journeys, with a long track record and community features.

Where it can feel like a lot: they often ask both you and your readers to create accounts, the experience leans toward a fuller social platform, and for some families it feels heavier than what they actually need. If you just want to post a few sentences and have your people read them, a full community site can be more than the moment calls for.
